About Ebony Alchemy.
Ebony Alchemy is an independent publication aiming to connect the Diaspora to more holistic health for self and community. This connection can be fostered through different aspects of spirituality, making space for unique thought processes, and actively seeking decolonization practices. Consider EA a digital tool in your arsenal for self discovery and innerstanding your personal divinity. It is our belief that healing oneself holistically leads to healing those around you and, eventually, your community and nation. The greatest weapon against oppression is knowledge, so let’s get learning!
Disclaimer: although Ebony Alchemy intends to consistently provide a reliable and honest guide for any part of your holistic journey, this (and other) external information are only part of the equation. Unlearning harmful rhetorics, discerning which practices work for you, and implementing them in your lifestyle to achieve your personal heaven on Earth is where the real work begins.

Ebony Alchemy?
Ebony, originally “hbny” in the Ancient Khemetic (Egyptian) language, represents a very dark black wood from the Ebony tree. Overtime, it became slang to describe melanated folks.
Alchemy, with Ancient Khemetic root “Khem”, meaning black, represents the people and soil of the area of Ancient Khemet (modern day Egypt before its Greek, Arab, and Roman invasions). Al- was said to be added after Arab invasion. Alchemy was a sacred science practiced throughout Khemet and with beliefs spanning throughout other ancient civilizations that adapted Khemet’s practices. According to modern research*, the Greek went into Khemet and integrated the Khemetic sacred science with their own physical sciences and created “Khemetia”, which later evolved into Chemistry. Please note, considering history is written by the conquerors, it’s highly plausible that the Ancient Khemetians were already masters of Khemetia/Alchemy prior to the Greek invasion (more on this later 😉).
*Please use discernment when learning history through the conquerors lenses.
Now that the etymology of Ebony Alchemy is understood, it’s important to understand what alchemy is. On the surface, alchemy is turning base metals (copper and lead) into gold. On a deeper note, this ability to turn base metals into gold speaks to our ability to create our environments through consistent efforts, .
Mission Statement
Ebony Alchemy’s mission is to connect the Diaspora to pre-colonization practices, beliefs, mindsets, and daily living to heal our relationships to self and the community.
“For the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house. They may allow us to temporarily beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change. — Audre Lorde.
In order to overcome internal hatred and systemic racism (and other -isms/-phobias) we must seek change through connecting with our pre-colonized ways of thinking while integrating our modern discoveries into our current circumstances. Using only the physical, spiritual, financial, emotional, and mental practices of our oppressors will never heal us. We are a holistic people experiencing a full experience

This is a safe space for all BIPOC to discuss what our experiences mean to us. Discourse and discussions are to be had in a respectful and impactful manner. If what‘s being said isn’t ultimately for the betterment of the community (i.e., celebrity gossip with no purpose, unconstructive criticism), there will be redirection. If it persists, appropriate members will be removed. Discussions are allowed to be light-hearted, but not at the expense of spreading toxicity. Discussions are also allowed to get passionate, but disrespect will never be tolerated. We lead with love around here.
